Vitamins And Supplements

Magazines are full of articles such as, folic acid (Vitamin E, Beta Carotene, etc.) prevents…. This is presented as if it were news. The articles imply we should run out and buy the supplements. Such articles are especially common in magazines that advertise vitamins and supplements. Every month they seem to find or recycle a couple more vitamins and supplements.

What’s wrong? If you were to take all of the vitamins and supplements they recommend in a piecemeal fashion you would be heavily taxing your liver and your wallet. Many of these vitamins and supplements are included in a multiple vitamin and taking both may be taking too much. Many vitamins and supplements can cause serious health problems if taken in extreme amounts.

The articles give little consideration to how the vitamin or supplement interacts with other vitamins and supplements, e.g., high doses of Vitamin C can inhibit the absorption of B-12, calcium needs vitamin D. Supplements such as gingko biloba and aspirin thin the blood, which may or may not be desirable and certainly needs to be considered if you are going to have surgery.

The research often isn’t realistic. No one questions that we need folic acid. But the research should have large numbers of people in an experimental and placebo groups following the treatment program for several years. The control group should take a good daily multiple vitamin with the amount of folic acid that multiple vitamins usually contain. The treatment group would take the same multiple vitamin plus additional folic acid. Results should show a statistically and clinically significant effect. Research should also control for socioeconomic factors (people who normally take vitamins tend to be better educated, more affluent, eat more healthily, and exercise more). Rarely do popular press articles meet these criteria.

As consumers we need to eat healthy foods and take a good multiple vitamin as an insurance policy against whatever our diet misses. Then ask what special needs you have that call for additional supplements, e.g., men taking saw palmetto to help prevent prostate cancer, people with a risk of heart disease taking daily low dose aspirin, women who have problems with urinary tract infections drinking cranberry juice or using cranberry extract. Overdoing supplements and piecemeal use of supplements may cause more problems than they help.

Most people get enough iron from their food and don’t need iron in their vitamins. Iron in particular can contribute to free radical damage. People who do need iron in vitamins or supplements include: children, women who menstruate, people who donate blood, and people who are anemic.

On the lighter side, there is the story about two cows that saw a milk tank truck drive by. In large bold letters it said, Pasteurized, Homogenized, Vitamin A added. One cow turned to the other and said, “makes you feel sort of inadequate, doesn’t it?”

The bottom line is to take a good daily multiple vitamin geared to your age and gender. Then consider if there are any other supplements you need beyond what your multiple vitamin is providing. Only take those that fit with your plan. Largely ignore the endless piecemeal articles on miraculous vitamins and supplements.

How to Optimize Your Book Presence on Amazon Once You

If you’ve optimized your Amazon profile, including choosing an Amazon signature that appears every time you post a book review on Amazon, you’re ready to move to the second stage of optimizing yourself and your book on Amazon. And this second stage starts with your book’s page on Amazon.

Your Book’s Amazon Page

First, check that your name is spelled correctly and the product info is correct. If your co-author was left off or there are other errors, scroll down the page to “update book info” and do so.

Second, if you have a blog and you have entered your blog feed into your Amazon account, your blog posts will automatically appear on your book’s page.

Now let’s look at a basic opportunity. Does your Amazon book page offer the LOOK INSIDE feature? If not, ask your publisher to provide this to Amazon.

Next, is your book available in a Kindle format? If your publisher doesn’t automatically provide this format, do so yourself. You can follow the instructions on the Amazon site – scroll down your book’s page until you see this headline “Sell a Digital Version of This Book in the Kindle Store.” Or you can supply the version yourself. (If you do have someone create the digital version of your book, make sure that this version is optimized. Otherwise you’ll have a digital version that is very hard to read.)

Obviously you want to get as many good reviews for your book as possible. This can be achieved in a variety of ways. One way: If you take a virtual book tour on book blogs and get good reviews, you can ask the book bloggers who gave you good reviews to also put their reviews on your book’s Amazon page. And there are many book bloggers who offer to review books even if you’re not on a virtual book tour.

A second way: You can ask your friends to read your book and post good reviews. (If a friend doesn’t like your book, don’t ask him/her to post a review.) A third way: Look for reviewers on Amazon who have written good reviews of similar books to yours. Then contact those reviewers if you can find their contact info.

A fourth way should be considered with caution: There are book review companies that offer book reviews for a fee. It’s probably best to get recommendations from other authors rather than randomly choosing such review companies.

Under “Tags Customers Associate with This Product” you’ll find “your tags.” You can add a tag for your book and then you will be asked to write a brief reason why the tag is relevant for your book. Amazon then reviews your reason for the tag and decides if the suggested tag is appropriate for your book.

You can write an article on your own book under “Product Information from the Amapedia Community.” You can read Amazon’s explanation of Amapedia – but for now think of it as a Wikipedia-type entry about your book.

Also on your book’s page you can “Create a Listmania! list” (instructions included) that can turn up on other book pages with your Amazon signature included with the list

Or on your page you can “Create a guide” for the “So You’d Like to …” feature. Again, the benefit for an author of doing the work to create the guide is that the guide will turn up on other book pages with your Amazon signature.

Other Book Pages

And, of course, you can get exposure by posting reviews on other book pages. Your Amazon signature will automatically appear at the top of your review, and you can manually include a signature at the end of the review. These can be the same signature or different signatures.

The more reviews you do on Amazon the more places that people can run across your name and the title of your book. If people like the way you write reviews, they may be more inclined to be interested in your own book.

Yes, writing reviews of books you’ve read does take time. And doing the other Amazon optimizer techniques in this article also takes time. Yet, if you’ve spent all that time writing a book, it makes sense to optimize your book’s Amazon presence. Who knows who might discover you online?

There are tons of womens health fitness websites some are little more than advertisements but many others provide a terrific supply of information relating to womens issues. Scientific research, data from studies, health conditions, nutrition, and fitness, as well as prevention and treatment information.

It’s important for women to get accurate information about issues that directly relate to their health and that includes the latest on womens health fitness. What was thought the best advice only a year or so ago has now been improved.

For example today it is a well known fact that women suffer heart attacks at the same rate as men but they often present differently to emergency wards to many go undiagnosed. It has also bee shown that womens health fitness is critical to keeping women healthier especially after menopause when their natural protection dwindles.

Studies have also shown that women health fitness can make a big difference in a womens ability to maintain here weight. And isn’t that what all women want? To look and feel their best?

Women may a great deal more attention to how they look and feel then men do. In general women are much more in tune to the signals their bodies are sending them and they are also much more interested in health fitness and how it affects their overall well being.

Men are more interested in fitness to great a buff, polished look although slowly they are beginning to recognize and understand the value of a cardio workout. Women on the other hand have long understood how their health fitness and their overall well being were directly related. And for one to have a terrific overall well being they needed to have a good health fitness ethic.

So the only question that remains is which type of health fitness program best suits your own personal lifestyle and goals.

Moisturizers
